Disneyland Paris Trip Cancellation
Following the recent tragic events in Paris and subsequent issues across Europe, many parents, carers and students have expressed serious concerns regarding the planned visit to Disneyland Paris and the Paris city centre tour from 7th to 9th December 2015. We have been in constant dialogue since the weekend with the tour operators and have been monitoring government advice for travelling to France as individuals and school trips which is continuously being updated. While the current position (recommending that school trips do not take place in Paris) does not apply to the time at which our students would be travelling, the national state of emergency will still be in place and the level of anxiety already caused by these events have led me to the decision that the trip will not take place at this point.
I realise this may in some ways be both a disappointment and a relief to students and parents and that not all parents will agree with the decision, but feel it is appropriate given the uncertainty of the situation. We remain in negotiation with the tour operator and to some degree the outcome will be dependent upon how the official travel advice develops over the upcoming days and weeks. I cannot say whether there will be an opportunity to run the trip at a later point in the year or what refund procedures will be in place, but will inform you as soon as possible once we know.
I apologise that there is still some uncertainty about the situation, but with the trip rapidly approaching I wanted to clarify the position and hopefully ease some concerns.
Should you still feel that you would like to discuss this further then please contact Mr Scrivener (Assistant Principal) at the academy.
