Department description:

The Humanities Department offers excellent opportunities to study Geography, History and Religious Studies. Students receive interesting and exciting lessons which encourage independent study skills and an enquiring mind. In the Humanities Department students will be exposed to a wide range of different accounts, evidence, case studies and opinions; from these they will learn to develop their own, well-rounded, considered opinions. The Humanities Department is committed to ensuring our students foster a love of learning and are in a position to explore the world that they live in.

KS3

KS4

GCSE History covers a range of topics and time periods which makes the subject fascinating to study.

Students are required to cover:

- A period study in the form of Russia Tsardom and Communism,1894–1945.

- A thematic study - Conflict and tension between East and West, 1945–1972.

- A wider world depth study - Power and the people: c1170 to the present day

- A British depth study including the historic environment - Restoration England, 1660–1685.

 

In History, you will learn a range of transferable skills; these are skills you can use in a huge variety of different jobs. These skills include: analysis, presentation writing, using evidence to form and explain your own judgements. History is also a subject respected by employers and universities.
