Commonwealth Flag raising ceremony 2016
‘The Commonwealth Charter asserts that everyone is equal and deserves to be treated fairly, whether they are rich or poor, without regard to their race, age, gender, belief or other identity.’ New Romney showed their support by raising a Commonwealth flag at Princess Diana Memorial Gardens on the 14th March. Myself and Head Boy Robert Banks were asked to deliver a speech on what the Commonwealth means to young people; to highlight how crucial it is that young people carry on the legacy of the Commonwealth by carrying on its values such as: tolerance, understanding and respect for other cultures. The ceremony was a great demonstration of the community coming together to celebrate and continue the values of the Commonwealth.
