I am pleased to invite you to our Year 5 and 6 Open Day on Saturday 30th September from 10.00am-12.30pm. The last few years have been exciting times for The Marsh Academy and I am sure that will continue in the future. We would be delighted to meet you to talk to you and show you a little of what we offer and our ethos, so that you can decide if our school would be the right place for your child.
Recent years have seen many students achieve excellent examination results at both GCSE and A Level enabling them to move on to Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment. This year is no exception and although it is too early for 2017 results to be fully published, the last set of externally published examination results placed the academy very favourably compared to other local similar schools. Ofsted also inspected the academy in the last academic year and confirmed the academy continues to be considered as a ‘Good’ school. More detailed information about results and the Ofsted inspections is available through our website www.marshacademy.org.uk. Perhaps though, what we are most proud of is that last year we were significantly over subscribed in year 7, reinforcing that the local community consider us to be the school of choice for most children.
While of course our staff and students are rightly proud of the school we have become, it is important that, as a parent / carer, you visit the academy to decide whether you feel our school is the right one for your child. We have the most success with students whose parents share our vision and support us, whether through our behaviour and uniform policies, supporting students’ work at home or through the vast range of extra-curricular activities we are able to offer.
I could insert various quotes from Ofsted here, but instead I invite you to read the inspection reports for yourselves and share our statement of Values and Ethos on the attached document, which I think is a more important reflection of the school we are and how we strive to support our students.
The Open Day will take place between 10am-12.30pm, with talks from the Principal at 10am and 11am. Please come to the main reception when you arrive to receive a prospectus and plan of the academy, then you are welcome to attend a talk in the Theatre and tour the academy with a student guide. Teachers, staff and students will be available for you to speak to as you look around.
We would also be delighted to conduct daytime tours of the academy for parents to view us in action; if you would like to register your interest, please e-mail with your contact details.
We would be grateful if parents could advise us in advance of any accessibility issues of which we need to be aware for the day as there will be events in several locations around the school site.
I very much look forward to meeting you.
